Quality
Control has long been an integral part of the corporate
philosophy at Union Asphalt, Inc. The QC Department includes
a mobile laboratory that is equipped to provide at-plant
testing services specifically for Caltrans QC/QA Projects
and FAA Airport Projects and generally for plant production
quality control. |

The Central Quality
Control Laboratory is located at Union Asphalt's headquarters
complex. This laboratory is equipped to perform asphalt
concrete mix design development and production testing
for Marshall and Hveem mixes in accordance with Caltrans
(stability, flow, air voids and oil content) test methods. |
| With
a staff of full-time technicians, Union Asphalt performs
daily gradation testing at its aggregate production facilities
as well as periodic testing for various aggregate quality
characteristics such as abrasion loss, plasticity, durability,
cleanliness and sand equivalent value. The Central Quality
Control Laboratory also has the equipment necessary for
curing and compressive-strength testing of Portland Cement
concrete. |
