In 1985, Union Asphalt, Inc. made a pivotal decision
to purchase an existing quarry in Atascadero, California. This
site has been transformed into what is referred to today as Rocky
Canyon. |
|
|
The decision
to obtain the hard rock quarry proved to be one of the most prudent
ventures in Union Asphalt's history. At this site the company has
the ability to mine granite rock and hence offer the invaluable
service of providing essential aggregates for the construction industry.
A few years earlier, in 1983, Union Asphalt purchased an existing
hot asphalt concrete production facility in Paso Robles. |
|
Rocky Canyon services both its asphalt hot mix
plant and ready mix operations, while supplying the needs of contractors
and homeowners. |
Over
the years, the granite quarry and asphalt plant have undergone
many upgrades and transformations and have now grown to be two
of Union Asphalt's main operations in San Luis Obispo County.
The quarry site spans out over 250 permitted acres, and has the
capability of producing a large range of construction aggregates.
The asphalt plant is situated on 11 acres adjacent to highways
101 and 46 where it produces a number of products that meet Federal,
State and local specifications
